What you should know about the CDCP
Once enrolled, the welcome package you receive from Sun Life will include the date you can start seeing an oral health provider. Appointments can only be scheduled on or after your coverage start date.
Your start date will depend on:
- when we receive your application and
- when we complete your enrolment
The first group of CDCP clients will be eligible to visit an oral health provider as early as May 2024.

PLEASE NOTE:
- This is not a free dental program. Depending on your adjusted family net income, patients may have to make a co-payment of up to 60%. You may also have to pay costs the CDCP does not cover.
- The CDCP does not cover all dental services. Before you start any treatment, you should understand your dental care costs. Please let us know if you plan to use the CDCP benefits.

Your start date will depend on:
- Seniors aged 87 and above: Starting December 2023
- Seniors aged 77 to 86: Starting January 2024
- Seniors aged 72 to 76: Starting February 2024
- Seniors aged 70 to 71: Starting March 2024
- Seniors aged 65 to 69: Starting May 2024
- Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate: Starting June 2024
- Children under the age of 18: Starting June 2024
- All remaining eligible Canadian residents: Starting 2025
